The ability to forecast wave activity can be crucial in our ability to act in a timely manner to protect property and try to insure the safety of our coastal area. The following are graphic tools to help us predict wave activity in the BEACON area. These graphics are updated as needed. We would like to thank Matt Roberts of the City of Carpinteria for his assistance in preparing this graphic information. The Coastal Data Information Program (CDIP) Center for Coastal Studies, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California, San Diego has an experimental wave forecasting graphic for our coastline.
On a larger scale Scripps and NOAA provide a graphic view of projected wave activity in the North Pacific region which gives us a longer range prediction of wave activity, with less detail for our specific area.
