The member agencies of BEACON are particularly concerned with the problem of contamination at our beaches and other water resources. Both Ventura and Santa Barbara County have active programs to monitor ocean water quality and take action to prevent pollution and contamination of our beaches.

BEACON serves as a clearinghouse for information amongst the member agencies and seeks to coordinate the efforts of both public and private groups in the effort to keep our beaches clean and healthy.

Santa Barbara County has a program to protect ocean water quality called Project Clean Water, a collaborative effort between numerous public and private groups and individuals. Click on the Project Clean Water emblem to find out more.

Ventura County has an active program for monitoring the water quality at the beaches conducted by the Ventura County Environmental Health Division. Click below for an overview of the monitoring program or to look at the weekly water quality reports.
